Minister of foreign affairs ; mr. Frans Timmermans.

But first one question : Would you like to be photographed like this?

Прикрепленное изображение
Timmermans (middle) laughing about something.

Last couple of days we were hosting the NSS (Nuclear Security Summit 2014).
All our great leaders from around the world visited museums and enjoyed copious dinner-parties.
Oh yes , they all (or most of them) signed an agreement they could easily have signed at home.

But what is in this picture?
Timmermans , the guy in the middle is laughing his lungs (and maybe his brains) out
to please his boss (the guy on the right, not the one with the hat) , who has just arrived.
In Holland politicians get really excited (like little girls) when Americans visit us.
Timmermans wants to become somebody of importance in EU or rather in NATO in the near future.
That is quite obvious for some time now. He denies it , but it just shows.
So please , teach me abusive language in Russian to throw at him.
Timmermans speaks Russian , so maybe he will understand.

Politics is just an industry.
You act as if you were important , be pompous and you choose the right friends. You will climb the ladder.
To alienate from your voters is what , you make them believe , your country needs.
But what does this mean for DEMOCRACY....

Beautiful. I had to look this up , but it's beautiful. biggrin.gif
I always thought I had seen Nikita Khrushchev slam his shoe onto the desk.
But this is impossible. It is only hearsay.
This is what information does to your mind.

Today , in Holland it is Fathers-day. And I am one of them.
So there are presents and this year we had a theme. "Rapido".
The old Rapido camper/trailer needs all kinds of stuff.
So they gave me sleeping bags , folding deck-chairs and collapsible water tanks. I am really happy.

Every year on fathers-day we have a truckers event that visits our little village.
Hundreds of trucks make a little tour with mentally handicapped people as their passengers.
During a traffic jam an American fire ladder made a 10 minute stop right in front of our house.
Gave me a chance to talk to the owners/crew about 2-stroke Detroit diesel engines....

The 2-stroke diesel sounds like a ship's engine. Beautiful sound.

I couldn't find any reliable information about father's day in Russia.
On Wiki , on the subject Father's-Day, it said :
Russia continues the USSR tradition of celebrating Defender of the Fatherland Day(February 23) instead of Father's Day. It is usually called "Men's Day" and it is considered the Russian equivalent of Father's Day.

On the last picture I have added you see my mother , oldest daughter Roos and her friend Hendri.
My mother lives with us since my father died (16 years ago).
It is the old-fashioned way to take in your parent(s). But it will be the modern way in Holland soon.
About 800 old folk homes will be closed and the elderly will have to rely on themselves or relatives.
Old people are becoming too expensive. That is what our government is telling us.
This country has gone in reverse gear fool.gif

You are right. This is very strange , but that is what capitalism does to society eventually.
When you privatize public sectors like health-care , you know money will be spent the wrong way.
Our health-care system has collapsed. Mismanagement , misuse , corruption and lack of government oversight.
About 100.000 people will lose their jobs in health-care.
Our government tells us we are transforming into a "participation society".
A strange combination of words only Dutch politicians can think of.
What they mean is : Jeder für sich und gott gegen alle. (that's a German quote)
We should solve our own problems and don't bother the government. They have more important things to do.
Like spending all our natural gas revenues or sell all our tanks or raising taxes again.
So just pay tax and work until you die. There is a similar problem with our pensions , you see.

There is no socialism left in this country. Socialists get laughed at and are called : populists.
In Holland the meaning of the word populist = ignorant.
No politician want's to be called ignorant , so there is hardly any political opposition we can vote for.

this occurs only in the Netherlands, or throughout Europe?

Many West European countries have financial , economical and social problems.
Pensions have evaporated , banks had to bailed out , countries had to be bailed out.
To find money to fill this pit , European Governments and Bruxelles raise taxes.
They cut spending on healthcare and education. Tax exempts granted where money is no issue.
We obviously need more millionaires.
In countries like Holland , Belgium and Germany pensioners age will be close to 70 years by 2020/2025.

Another example. Germany this time.
The Deutsche Bundesbahn (privatized , 2/3 of its activities abroad) has serious problems.
Megalomaniac mismanagement and too many (failed)investments abroad (worldwide).
Neglected German infrastructure like pre-war railroad bridges and dangerous single track routes.
Wire (steel wire , mechanically) controlled track switches and signaling in 70% of the total national track.
Prestigious High-Speed projects get all the funding and more. Makes the management shine.

In Holland , starting in school-year 2015-2016 , students (18y. older) have to borrow money to pay for their school. No state support. Just start paying back when you find a job. If you find one...
Our government claims we are going to have a "knowledge economy" with equal chances for everybody.

I hope your country takes better care of its people.
